The Treetop Walk Black Forest

Magical winter lights
in Bad Wildbad

From 30 November 2024, the entire Treetop Walk Black Forest will once again be illuminated in soft white fairy lights, enveloping the Sommerberg in Bad Wildbad in a magical atmosphere. Wait and see what magical encounters will surprise you on your night-time walk above the treetops. Perhaps a magical family of deer – or a glittering squirrel scurrying across the path? Make a note of the date, because you can only experience the magic of lights on the Sommerberg until 16 February 2025.

Sustainability is a key principle at the Treetop Walk Black Forest and for Erlebnis Akademie AG (eak) as a whole. For this reason, the operating company has intensively addressed this issue in advance. Energy consumption was a decisive criterion. Although we are installing a total of around 300,000 LED lights: This is state-of-the-art LED technology and the light is very soft, which is why the entire lighting system only consumes around 4 kilowatt hours of electricity per day. By way of comparison, that is less than one person consumes per day in a private household.

Are there any effects on the animals in the forest?

We use a warm white, soft light with very low light emissions. The light sources used have been developed for outdoor use in nature, with a particular focus on minimising the impact on wildlife - including birds, bats and all the other inhabitants of the Black Forest. We agreed the lighting installation in advance with our local forester.
